For the last week at The Decibel Garden I was in charge of completing my project which was a hip hop song about Durango. The previous two weeks I had been working on coming up with an outline and writing down all the lyrics. This week I started by talking to Silas about studio time. We originally had planned for a four hour session, but we ended up needing eight hours.
The actual experience of recording was absolutely amazing and very fun for me. We began by producing the beat and after that started on vocals. For vocals I went into the booth with my lyrics and recorded layers. I had multiple instances where I messed up, but all in all it was a fairly smooth process. For the chorus I did some singing and we also made a hook and three verses. We used a compressor microphone and logic pro for the software. After we finished vocals it was time to mix and master the song.
For this we arranged the song in a way that would sound best and put effects in areas that could use it. Once mixing and mastering was done the song was finalized and compressed into mp3. Overall, this internship was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I plan to go into the music industry after high school. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and I learned so much throughout.
