Upon arrival I was introduced to my first real studio. I met my mentor and he laid down the rules of being an intern. Some of these things were my duties, how to treat people, and how to never stop working. There is a band in this week and I was able to observe the recording process. The first week mostly consisted of observation and what it takes to record an album. I was able to watch the group dynamics of the band including multiple conflicts and the solutions that followed. I sat down with Silas(my mentor) and talked about my project. We decided that I could either produce a song for a local hip hop artist or make my own song. I ended the week by writing song ideas down.
I was offered this opportunity through the LINK internship program. This program gave us a platform to set up a three week internship with a business of our choice. I am planning to go into music after high school so I was interested in a music related internship. After what seemed like an endless search I contacted Silas Mera who worked at a music studio in Denver with Janae's help.
This the studio was called The Decibel Garden and recorded multiple genres of music including, but not limited to hip hop, alternative and electric music. There was a kitchen, two studios, a sound room, tech room and multiple recording booths.
