Snail Trail Geogebra Lab
For the snail trail lab in Geometry I followed the steps given to us on the Youtube video to complete drawing. Using reflectional symmetry I found that when you moved the main point all of the snail trails were the same size, shape and angle depending on which way you moved it. This also applies when using rotational symmetry, this means that when rotated the shape will stay the same size. Without the color of this picture it becomes an shape that has equal sides and angles.
Burning Tent Lab
Question 1: Once you have the minimal path, what appears to be true about the incoming angle and the outgoing angle?
Once we constructed the minimal path the outgoing angle became relatively smaller than the incoming angle. This is because of the distance of the camper too the river which was greater than the distance of the river to the tent fire.
Question 2: Why is the segment from Camper to TentFire’ the shortest path?
The segment of camper to the tent fire was the shortest because it skips going to three points instead of two. The distance is short because it skips the river which would make the camper have to go out of the way too complete the path.
Question 3: Where should point River be located in relation to the segment Camper to TentFire’ and line AB so that the sum of the distances is minimized?
In order for the sum of the distances to be less the river should be located in line with the camper and tent fire. This would greatly decrease the diastase that would have to be travel.
