Shakespeare Reflection
For this project we learned about Shakespeare and his role and influence in culture. To do that we did a play where we had to act and create the set on our own. My personal role was to design and create the stem I also played one of the mechanicals in the play.
In this project what connected with me the most was the fact that Shakespeare had such an influence on modern culture. I had never taken time to notice this and when I did I was surprised and impressed. I also really liked the acting part of the play, this was very fun and my favorite part of the play was the performance of the whole thing.
The most difficult part of the project was trying to get everyone to work and get things done. For me personally the most difficult part of the project was coming up with affordable ideas for the set that looked realistic. The biggest problem was the background because we needed something that represents the city, so by persevering I came up with the idea to use spray paint, tape, and a sheet to make a wall. It looked great and pretty realistic.
Something that this project taught me about myself was that in order for me get a lot of work done I needed a very set plan. Our teacher, Matt Dooley, was able to help with this by making checklists for us each day. With these I was able to get more work done and the products were good too.
Our society still celebrates Shakespeare for a few reasons; first is the fact that he still has an influence on culture. Shakespeare influenced clothing, language, and modern art, he is a legend who still lives on throughout the world. Also the fact that people still idolize his art is a great example of how he's still alive. Shakespeare won't truly ever die, he will always live on through other people.
