HONEY BEE - PROJECT REFLECTION
Honey bees pollinate fruit and plants that are vital to our survival. They have long provided people with honey and wax. Without honey bees many plants and fruits would not be able to survive. Some of these plants include grapes, berries, almonds, peaches and many more produce. Without this produce, we would be able to survive without this produce, but many people would lack proper nutrition. For this reason, we need honey bees to live.
For this project I chose to focus on CCD, which is also known as Colony Collapse Disorder. This disease has been related to pesticides which weaken the bees immune systems and kill them. The specific pesticide is known as neonticoniods. After this pesticide weakens the bees they become susceptible to smaller sicknesses that can kill the weakened bee. For this exhibition I made a rap song with George about the disappearance of bees. We gathered facts on the bee loss with our research notes and translated this into our lyrics. We then recorded at school and my house. We used a Dr. Dre instrumental. I was most proud of the quality of the song and the amount of information I included. If I were too do it again I would make a music video too.
